Road testing is done in two parts:

Basic control skills - the parking portion of the test.
-
3 exercises in the basic control skills portion
-
Forward stop line
-
Sight side backing (L backing)
-
Blindside backing (parallel parking)

All applicants are required to pass the (basic control skills) parking portion of the test in order to move on to the (on road) driving portion.

On Road Driving consists of a little bit of everything.
-
Expect urban driving, rural driving, expressway, lane changes, left turns, right turns, and everyday hazards that are found on the road. (such as construction zones, pedestrians, schools, adverse weather, and other drivers)
All road test applicants are encouraged to have at least 50 hours of driving experience before or attempting the road test.
Also all road test applicants are encouraged to read the "Driving skills test study guide"(found below) to be familiar with all procedures, rules, and dimensions of the parking course.

IMPORTANT INFO PRIOR TO YOUR TEST

Michigan graduated level 1 license from Secretary of State. This must be the authentic document no copies or pictures on phone will be accepted! (minimum 6 months)

Segment 2 completion certificate.(can be digital)

Photo ID.(school ID or level 1 license with picture)

50 hour driving log.(40 daytime, 10 night. Can be digital)

Parent or guardian.(no other riders allowed)

Temporary instructional permits from the Secretary of State. This must be the authentic document no copies or pictures on phone will be accepted! (must have 30 days or past eligibility date)

Photo ID. (any photo ID or identifying paperwork works)

Vehicle Information
All applicants will need to provide a good working vehicle including:

Rentals cars also available!
Refund Information:
Document or equipment failure: NO REFUND
Basic skills or on-road failure: NO REFUND
No-Show: NO REFUND
*Document Failure:
Missing or unreadable documents (missing insurance, registration, and/or permits etc.)
*Equipment Failure:
Vehicle not up to the standards of the Michigan Department of State. (see study guide)
*Basic Skills Failure:
7 points or more in the parking lot (see study guide)
*On Road Failure:
26 points or more and/or automatic failure (see study guide)
*No-Show: More than 15 minutes late to appointment time or failure to appear (please be sure to cancel at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment! Inside 24 hours we cannot reschedule or refund any money)
